modak recipe | easy ukadiche modak recipe


Today I'm going to share with  You Modak Recipe, Modak is favourite sweet of Lord Ganesha and Each and every hindu and maharashtrian people making Modak at home on Ganesh Chaturthi,

Ganesha is son of  lord Shiv and Goddess parvati, Lord Ganesha is called the God of Knowledge and wisdom,

Ganesha is a favorite God of Hindu and Maharashtrian people, Everyone loves Ganesha, especially kids adore Lord ganesha, Because all the kids get the sweet Sweet prasad to eat, everyone loves Lord Ganesha  and All the people celebrate Ganesh Chaturthi in a big tune,


Lord Ganesha is called the vighnaharta, Vighnaharta is most important name of Lord Ganesha Because Lord Ganesha remove all the obstacle in life and keep us happy always, Ganesha is  always there for everyone,


Ganesh Chaturthi is big festival of maharashtra, Ganesha  arrives in every house and Mandals,  every where wave of happiness, everyone celebrate Ganesh chaturthi with full on happiness, 

Everyone worships Lord Ganesha with all their heart and love, they people offered Sweet and fruits to Lord Ganesha,

many people  make modak  for  Lord Ganesha, Because Modak is favourite sweet of Lord Ganesha, Lord Ganesha loves modak, therefore many people making modak at home in Ganesh Chaturthi,


Modak are sweet stuffed dumpling offered  God Ganesha as a parsad or Nevidyam during Ganesh chaturthi puja, 

Many people Offer Modak to  Lord  Ganesha while Worshiping Ganesha,

The most and popular modak is Ukadiche modak these modak very famous in Maharashtra because  specially Maharashtrian people made this Modak  at home during Ganesh chaturthi  festival, Ukadiche Modak are very sweet and tasty,   Ukadiche Modak means "Steamed Modak"  these modak made from rice flour and filled with a mixture of coconut and Jaggery in it, then stuffing the mixture and steam it,


I'm gonna share with you,  HOW TO MAKE UKADICHE MODAK AT  HOME, these are very easy and simple, you can Make Modak at home during Ganesh Chaturthi Festival or anytime,

There are two ways to making modak at home, first with mould and second is shape them with hand,

making modak with Mould, it's very  easy and looks beautiful and delicious but some people making with hand and  homemade modak also looks very beautiful, if you don't have modak mould then you can buy mould from market,

INGREDIENTS FOR STUFFING 

1) 2 / 3 Cup  Grated Coconut,

2) 1 tsp Ghee,

3) 1 cup jaggery

4) 1 tsp Cardamom Powder 

5) 2 / 3 Almond, Cashew nut ( Optional )


INGREDIENTS  FOR DOUGH

1) 1 cup Rice flour,

2) 1 tsp Ghee or oil,

3) ½  tsp salt,

4)  2 cup water,


METHOD OF MAKING MODAK 


1) STUFFING METHOD

First take a pan and heat the 1 tsp Ghee in a pan and add  2 cup coconut in hot Ghee, mix it well, 

●  saute until Coconut become brown, then add 1 cup jaggery  and mix well,

● cook the coconut and jaggery mixture on low flame until jaggery melts well,  stir  well  and cook the mixture until mixture become thickens and  remains moist, don't overcook jaggery,

● then add 1 tsp cardamom powder and dry fruits mix it  

● Now Stuffing is ready,  keep aside and let cool it,


2) DOUGH METHOD 


● Take a pan then add 2 cup water,  then add ½ Tsp Salt and 1Tsp Ghee or oil,

● let this come to a boil 

● then add 2 cup rice flour and mix it well until rice absorbing all  the water and become thickens,

● then turn off flame and cover it with lid and rest it for 5 mints 

● then transfer to other bowl and ghather all dough and start to knead it, wet your hand and knead dough until dough become soft,

● now modak dough is ready, if dough become dry then again wet your hand and knead it,

●  knead it soft and smooth dough without lumps, now modak dough is ready,


3) MODAK SHAPING WITH MOULD


● Grease the modak mould with Ghee or oil prevent form sticking dough,

●  make a small ball of rice dough, roll the small ball on your plam, apply some oil on your palm and make it smooth, cover it, don't let them dry,

● then small size ball place in the center of  mould and make a hole in center with finger,  wet your finger in ghee or oil and close tightly and press down  the dough to all the sides of mould and make space in the center for stuffing,

● now add stuffing in the center and cover it dough perfectly and  close the opening side with excess dough,

● then unlock the mould and remove modak from mould very gently without breaking,

● then shape all the modak this way with mould and keep aside and cover them,

 

4) MODAK SHAPING WITH HAND


Take small ball of dough and flatten it on your palm and dip your thumb in water and start pressing edges,  flatten it with your fingers make a dent in the center,

● Slowly  press the edges till shallow bowl  or cup shape, don't break edges if edges start breaking then apply some water or oil on your plam during flattening,

● now start creating pleats on the top  with your fingers and thumb,

● then filled 1 tsp  coconut jaggery stuffing in center,

● gather all  the  pleats at the top and join them gently and remove excess dough from top, 

● then cover it with wet cotton, don't let them dry,


METHOD OF STEAMING MODAK


● Teak a steamer pot then add 2 cup water in a pot and heat it,

● grease the  plate or bowl and place the moist cotton in plate or bowl,

●place the all  modak and leaving gap in between of madak,

● then place the  modak  plate or bowl in steamer and cover it and steam it for 10 to 15 minutes on low flame, 

● When modak steamed very well then pour few tsp Ghee on the modak,

● Now Ukadiche Modak is ready to offer God ganesha and celebrate ganesh chaturthi with love and happiness,
